Session to be Streamed Worldwide on KCRW.com and Facebook Live

April on KCRW’s flagship music program Morning Becomes Eclectic kicks off today, and welcomes the breadth of artists you would expect from the SoCal tastemaking station. All performances can be heard on-air, or streamed live at kcrw.com at 11:15 AM PDT.

Monday, April 2 – The Voidz
Led by The Stroke’s singer Julian Casablancas, The Voidz make their live radio debut in support of their new album Virtue, released today on RCA Records. Featuring a swirl of different styles ranging from prog-rock to groovy pop recorded in Los Angeles, Virtue is the band’s first work in nearly four years.

Tuesday, April 3 – Yellow Days
The young UK artist Yellow Days, aka George Van Den Broek performs live in studio. He released his debut full length Is Everything Ok in Your World to critical acclaim, and KCRW has been watching the inventive artist’s star rise quickly.

Wednesday, April 4 – The Breeders
The Breeders drop by the studio to perform a mix of new songs and fan favorites. They reunited in 2013 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Last Splash, one of the most influential albums of the ‘90s. Inspired by those shows, the band returned to the studio for a new album All Nerve, picking up right where they left off.

Tuesday, April 10 – Wajatta
Tune in to the worldwide live radio debut of Wajatta, the brainchild of beat-boxer, comedian, and musician Reggie Watts, and electronic music artist, DJ, and producer John Tejada. Their first single “Runnin'” has been lighting up the KCRW airwaves.

Thursday, April 12 – Moby
A live performance and interview featuring Moby will air in support of his 15th studio album Everything was Beautiful, and Nothing Hurt. The session was taped at the prestigious Apogee Studios, owned and operated by famed engineer Bob Clearmountain.

Monday, April 16 – Tom Misch
Tom Misch was voted “Best New Artist” by KCRW’s DJs last year, and his debut album comes out April 6. All of the singles so far have been spectacular, and Misch visits the studio to share tracks from the album and more.

Wednesday, April 18 – Greta Van Fleet
The Michigan quartet has seen a quick rise to fame for their classic rock sound. They’ll be bringing their fiery show to Coachella, then hit the KCRW studio for a blistering live set.

Friday, April 20 – Charlotte Day Wilson
Toronto-based singer Charlotte Day Wilson shined when she joined BadBadNotGood to sing guest vocals during their MBE live set last year. She just released her second EP, Stone Woman, and her performance is sure to be stunning.

Monday, April 23 – Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever
The KCRW team happened upon these Aussie rockers at SXSW last year and became instant fans. Last year’s EP French Press for Sub Pop landed on many “best of 2017” lists, and they’ll be performing a preview of tracks from their forthcoming album.

Thursday, April 26 – Jade Bird
Jade Bird was one of the most talked about artists of SXSW 2018, and lived up to the hype at KCRW’s official SXSW showcase. Her incredible energy, wit and wisdom are far beyond her 20 young years.

Monday, April 30 – Django Django
UK art rock band Django Django take a turn towards pop on their 3rd album, Marble Skies. It’s their most confident release to date, and KCRW is excited to have them back in the studio.

Jack White Performs Live, Songs from his new album, Boarding House Reach

Jack White Performs Live, Songs From His New Album, Boarding House Reach

Friday, March 23, at 10:00 AM on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic

On Friday, March 23, at 10:00 a.m., Jack White will perform tracks from his new album, Boarding House Reach, on the day of its release, live on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic. This will be one of White’s first live radio sessions supporting the new record, and one of his first live performances in four years.

The session also includes an interview with Jason Bentley during which they discussed hip-hop’s influence on the new record and upcoming touring plans. White also shared how he got back to basics while recording Boarding House Reach.

“Your dream scenario when you’re younger, is if I just had a Stratocaster, this would sound so much better, if I just had this mic, it would sound so much better,” says White. “But, as I learned again what I was doing, those cheap microphones, the cheap equipment I had was very important to getting the sound, the soulfulness of what you’re trying to put down. It doesn’t matter about the microphone…You don’t really even need to know what your doing, you need to know why you’re doing it. You can be very bad at twiddling the knobs and the faders, and all of that, but if you know why you’re doing it – your attitude – is very much a large part of the game.”

Tune in to hear the live performance and interview at 10:00 a.m. PDT, on air, or at KCRW.com. Video of the interview portion will be available on demand at kcrw.com.

Santa Monica, CA (December 4, 2017) – Multi Grammy® and Emmy® Award-nominated composer Ramin Djawadi will perform a special, intimate performance of Game of Thrones® music on KCRW’s flagship music program Morning Becomes Eclectic on Tuesday, December 12, in celebration of the release of Season Seven of the hit HBO series on Blu-rayTM and DVD. The live performance will air in the 11:00 AM PST hour on 89.9 FM, and around the world at KCRW.com, and via Facebook Live.

Djawadi’s music from the latest season – the Game of Thrones (Music from the HBO® Series) Season 7 Soundtrack  – has just been released as a special double vinyl set by WaterTower Music.

Last week Ramin Djawadi was nominated for his second Grammy® Award for ‘Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media’ for his work on Game of Thrones® Season Seven. Martin’s books. Ramin’s relentlessly popular title track alone has become an instantly recognizable pop culture phenomenon in its own right.

Based on the bestselling fantasy book series by George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones® is an epic story of treachery and nobility set on the continent of Westeros, where summers and winters can last years, and only the lust for power is eternal. The Emmy®- and Golden Globe Award-winning series has captured the imagination of fans globally, making it one of the most popular shows on television.

KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic

October Starts with Stellar Line-Up

The first two weeks of October on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic boasts a stellar line-up; a rocking live set from Queens of the Stone Age, Dhani Harrison in his first live radio appearance in the U.S., current U.K. chart-toppers Wolf Alice, Grizzly Bear’s return after a five-year hiatus, and the live radio debut of Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile. And, Jason Bentley interviews mastermind director, and big KCRW fan, David Lynch.

Queens of the Stone Age
Thursday, October 5, at 11:15 a.m.
October kicks off with a full on rock set from Queens of the Stone Age, highlighting tracks from their latest album Villains. Produced by Mark Ronson, Villains is glammy & groovy, and packs the rock ‘n’ roll punch we’ve come to expect. The live QOTSA performance is in advance of their appearance at Cal Jam.

Dhani Harrison (Live U.S. Radio Debut)
Friday, October 6, at 10:00 a.m.
Dhani Harrison is rock royalty. After ten years of releasing music as part of a band, the son of the late George Harrison is finally striking out with his eponymous debut album. On the day of it’s release, Harrison performs selections from his forthcoming record — performed with a full band and strings — marking his first live radio appearance in the U.S., and first full band appearance worldwide.

Wolf Alice
Monday, October 9, at 11:15 a.m.
Wolf Alice, hailed by NME as the “best band in Britain” has been a KCRW fave from the beginning. In 2015, the band played the station’s SXSW showcase. Less than a year later, they were nominated for a GRAMMY®. Their sophomore album Visions of a Life, is a bold move forward for a band that came out of the gate with confidence and determination. They are currently locked in a tight battle with Shania Twain for the top spot on this week’s UK album chart, and perform live on-air in advance of their appearance at Cal Jam.

Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile (Live Worldwide Radio Debut)
Tuesday, October 10, at 11:15 a.m.
Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile are two gifted songwriters who joined forces for a collaborative project, Lotta Set Lice. The result is a perfect representation of their collective talents. The duo make their live worldwide radio debut just days before the album’s release. They entertain not only with their music, but with their funny/deadpan/stream of consciousness storytelling. The performance is in advance of their appearance at Desert Daze.

David Lynch
Wednesday, October 11, at 10:00 a.m.
David Lynch has had an immeasurable influence on television, film and music. His groundbreaking series Twin Peaks returned this summer for it’s third season after a quarter-century hiatus. Lynch’s conversation with Jason Bentley addresses the show’s revival, his upcoming Festival of Disruption, how meditation can bring about world peace, and how musicians are a lot like children.

Grizzly Bear
Thursday, October 12, at 10:00 a.m.
Grizzly Bear took five years to craft their fifth album, Painted Ruins. It’s a grand return, jampacked with the gorgeous harmonies and complex orchestration the quartet are known for. This week, they kick off their first tour in four years in Europe, which culminates in L.A. on December 13 and 14 at the Wiltern. Recorded at Apogee Studio, this exceptional live session sees the band exploring tracks from their latest album, as well as digging deep from their catalog for a fan favorite or two.

KCRW’s flagship music program, Morning Becomes Eclectic produced an exciting string of live performances featuring the exclusive radio debuts of songs from Natalia Lafourcade, Big Thief, Amber Mark and Lo Moon.

On Thursday, July 20, one of L.A.’s rising stars, Lo Moon, premiered the new song “Real Love.” The three-piece, LA-based band’s debut song, a 7-minute sprawling anthem called “Loveless,” is fast-becoming a radio favorite. The song has already had over two million streams since it was released. Lo Moon is currently putting the finishing touches to their debut album. Check out the session here.

Monday, July 24 saw Big Thief premiere the new song “Oldest.” Big Thief has been making waves in the indie music world after releasing two nearly back to back albums of captivating, powerful songs, led by the gorgeous vocals and emotional storytelling by 25-year-old Adrianne Lenker. Check out the session here.

On Wednesday, July 26, Amber Mark premiered the new song “Love Me Right.” This young rising star recently released her self-produced debut EP 3:33 AM, a deeply moving and meditative collection of earthly experimental pop. Within a matter of months, of uploading “Space” to Soundcloud, the song landed on the iTunes homepage and climbed to #35 on Spotify’s Global Viral Chart. Of course, KCRW has been spinning songs from her debut EP frequently, and “Love Me Right” is slated to be her next single.
