Artists include folk-tinged, bilingual, indie pop and R&B sensation Ambar Lucid, Puerto Rico’s emerging master of rub-a-dub style Pachyman, East L.A.’s innovative soul music collective Thee Sinseers, and brooding, melodic experimental pop singer/songwriter Hana Vu. Live music starts at 8:30pm, bookended by KCRW DJ sets at 6:30pm and 9:30pm. A happy hour with a cash bar starts at 6:30 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to come early and visit the Hammer’s galleries, which will be open until 9:00pm.

On view at the Hammer will be Andrea Bowers, the first museum retrospective surveying more than two decades of the Los Angeles–based artist’s work. For the past 30 years, Andrea Bowers has used her artistic practice as a political exercise, a narrative platform that she lends to movements of social and political activism. Bowers takes up immigration rights, workers’ rights, climate justice, and women’s rights, illustrating the shared pursuit of justice that connects them. The exhibition presents dozens of works spanning drawing, performance, installation, sculpture, video, and neon, and reflects  Bowers’s deep engagement with activism and experimentation with figurative space.
