May’s live performances
on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic

Beach House, Sofi Tukker, Courtney Barnett,
Laura Veirs, and EELS

May’s live performances on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic kick-off with Beach House performing live, tomorrow, Tuesday, May 15. Throughout the month, the station’s flagship music program welcomes the breadth of artists you would expect from the SoCal tastemaker including Sofi Tukker (10am), Courtney Barnett, and Laura Veirs. May on MBE also offers the first opportunity to see songs from EELS new record The Deconstruction performed live.

All performances can be heard on-air, or streamed live at kcrw.com in the 11:00 AM PDT hour unless otherwise noted.

Tuesday, May 15 – Beach House
Baltimore-based band Beach House continues to create dark and dreamy pop music that is absolutely captivating. Their new album 7 (the band’s seventh studio album) is earning them some of the best reviews of their decade-plus career.

Wednesday, May 16 – Sofi Tukker – Airs at 10:00 a.m.
KCRW were among the very first to champion Sofi Tukker, who have quickly found an impassioned following for their infectious dance pop sound. They just released their debut full length Treehouse which includes “Baby I’m a Queen,” a song that they performed live on MBE back in 2016. They return to the studio for a special 4-song set.

Friday, May 18 – Courtney Barnett
Courtney Barnett has experienced a quick rise to indie rock fame thanks to whip-smart lyricism and a stream-of-conscious singing style that puts the focus on her wry observations about everyday life. On the day she releases her new album, Tell Me How You Really Feel, KCRW will air highlights from a session recorded at Apogee Studio in front of a live audience.

Wednesday, May 23 – Laura Veirs
On her 10th solo album, The Lookout, prolific songwriter Laura Veirs demonstrates the depth of her musical skill. There is something warm and soothing about her voice that makes lyrics about our unsteady world go down easy. The last time Veirs visited the KCRW studio, it was as part of the singer-songwriter super group case/lang/veirs (with kd lang and Neko Case).

Friday, May 25 – EELS
EELS visit KCRW studios for the first full band live performance of songs from the new album The Deconstruction. The session takes place just days before the launch of a world tour, so it’s the first place for fans to see and hear the new songs performed live.

Morning Becomes Eclectic, hosted by KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley, is the station’s signature daily music program (9:00 AM – Noon) featuring new releases from emerging and established artists, underappreciated gems, live performances and interviews.
