Country in the City Continues with
Shelby Lynne and Jamestown Revival

SANTA MONICA, CA (July 23, 2014) — Country in the City kicked off this weekend with stellar sets from soon-to-be star Sturgill Simpson and legend Gregg Allman. The series, brought to you by the Annenberg Foundation and KCRW, continues this coming Saturday with two station favorites based here on the West Coast: Shelby Lynne and Jamestown Revival.
Doors open at 5pm with a DJ set from Chris Douridas and live music begins at 7pm. Early arrival is encouraged to ensure entry as the event is free with RSVP.
Born in Virginia and raised in Alabama, Shelby took up residence in Palm Springs some years ago, but has lost none of her Southern charm or the raw and honest songwriting that made her famous. She’s currently in the studio working on new songs and will take a break from recording to bring her fantastic live show to us, with a full band.
The duo behind Jamestown Revival — Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance –grew up together in Texas before landing in LA. They made their U.S. radio debut on KCRW this year and have been a consistent favorite on our airwaves ever since, thanks to their impeccable harmonies and inspired storytelling.
With a couple major festivals (Bonnaroo, Hangout Fest) and a national headlining tour under their belt, the band returns triumphant and ready to rock Century Park.
These FREE (with RSVP!) all-ages outdoor concerts are inspired by the Annenberg Space for Photography’s newest exhibit, “Country: Portraits of an American Sound“, which features images of the pioneers, poets and icons of country music.
Aside from great music, Country in the City also features an array of food selections, including eight popular food trucks and local cafes, multiple beer gardens, late night museum hours, photo booths and even some lessons in lassoing!
Attendees are encouraged to pack a picnic, bring a blanket and enjoy an
evening of music under the stars.
Also, mark your calendars for Saturday, August 2, when Wynonna & The Big Noise and Nikki Lane take the stage.
KCRW and the Annenberg Foundation first united in 2012 for a string of hugely successful summer music events staged in Century Park to accompany the “Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History 1955 – Present” exhibit.
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Annenberg Foundation has planned community events throughout 2014, including Country in the City.
