It’s hard to describe authenticity. It’s one of those ‘you know it when it comes around’ things.

From his first release, Signs and Signifiers, Oklahoma native JD McPherson always seemed to have it. It’s as if he emerged from a late ’50s time capsule, but with an sonic quality that allows us to appreciate every nuance of his thoroughly seasoned band as well.

I’ve never seen the man perform live, so I jumped at the opportunity to host his appearance at our annual Twilight Concert Series.

Just have a listen to his song “You Must Have Met Little Caroline?” from his latest masterful release Let the Good Times Roll.

Once you do, I suspect you’ll be making plans to join us at Santa Monica Pier on Thursday July 30.

And as an extra bonus, we have an exclusive stream — it’s a live outtake of the song “Precious”. He played it before his appearance on Prairie Home Companion and this is the first time it’s being shared publicly.

Enjoy!
