Artist You Should Know (Song Premiere): Imaginary People

New York-based vocalist Dylan Von Wagner has been bowling people over with his distinctive sound since his days in the band Linfinity.

Combining Bryan Ferry’s sultry vibrato with Interpol lead singer Paul Bank’s dark, dramatic baritone, Von Wagner commands attention from the get-go.

He’s got a new band called Imaginary People that he is leading these days, who make their full-length debut (Dead Letter Box) this week.

Agata” is a good example of what one can expect to find on the album: twinkling guitar & keyboard accents swirling about a brooding melody line, with Von Wagner melancholy croon floating above it all.

Agata” has personal resonance for the band, being written for a friend of the band who passed away.

That said, the song fits the band’s usual M.O., with all the parts working together to create a deliriously captivating mood that, like a really good television melodrama, keeps you unable to turn away.
