Video Premiere: Until the Ribbon Breaks “My Love”

Originally from the UK but now residing in LA, the band Until The Ribbon Breaks premiere their new video, “My Love” on KCRW. This song is taken from their forthcoming sophomore album, due out February 2018. The album itself is a story about Pete Lawrie-Winfield’s newfound sobriety. In recovery there is a lot of push and pull and we see that with the interpretive dance that is the centerpiece of the video.

“My Love” is more about the positive side of life.  In a conversation with Pete he mentioned, “Of all of the songs on the new record, if not all of our records, the words were directly inspired by the music, it was about the sound of the words next to each other, the flow, how to sit amongst the warm texture we had created.”

I also wanted to know the origin of the band name. He said when he was a youth he used to make mixtapes and that he would ‘play them until the ribbon breaks.’

Until The Ribbon Breaks perform new material live for the first time in Los Angeles on Dec 7th at the Peppermint Club.
