This week Today’s Top Tune revolves around a handful of artists that we really love! First off, Oumou Sangare is back after an eight year break. Cuban-Canadian singer Alex Cuba reaches back to the sound of old Havana, adding a modern twist. Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros releases a solo song and we’re excited about two newish artists: NYC singer Amber Mark and Bay Area-based Big Wild.

After an eight year break from recording, one of the greatest living voices in African music returns with a rich new album. Malian artist Oumou Sangare titles her latest collection Mogoya, meaning ‘people today,’ which draws heavily on the rich traditions and native instruments of her ancestors.

NYC songwriter and singer Amber Mark has a self-produced EP offering soul-bearing tracks. Influenced by a broad musical palette this singer chronicles the passing of her mother with a cathartic set of songs, including “Lose My Cool. “
