Sorry, our screening is now full. Stay tuned for upcoming events!

After traveling in Africa for months, the body of graduate student Gabriel Buchman was discovered on a remote mountain in Malawi. His friend Fellipe Barbosa decided to retrace Gabriel’s steps, and he made a beautiful, romantic travelogue about the last months of his life, casting many of the actual people Gabriel encountered along the way.

The Document will screen “Gabriel and the Mountain” for KCRW members on Tuesday the 22nd at the super cool Downtown Independent

Note that this is not a documentary in the strictest sense of the word, but it incorporates so many real people, places and things (including Gabriel’s actual clothes) that it really blurs the line between fact and fiction. No matter how you look at it, it’s a magical film. You will miss Gabriel after he is gone.

Gabriel and the Mountain” will be released by Strand Releasing on June 15th.
