The Wildcat Lounge on Ortega St. in Santa Barbara has earned the reputation of “dive club,” but stop by earlier on a Tuesday and you might be surprised. For nearly four years, bartenders at the Wildcat have ventured down the street to stock up on fresh fruits, veggies and herbs at the farmers’ market. Then, they head back behind the bar to get creative, dishing out craft cocktails for 7 bucks.

It’s no surprise that today’s Farm to Bar (every Tuesday 4-8pm) is all about Margaritas. Bartender Patrick Reynolds shares one of 30 recipes he and his team will be trying out today.

The Gun Slinger:

  • 1oz mescal
  • 1oz tequila
  • 1oz fresh lime juice
  • .75oz agave nectar
  • 5 leaves fresh sage

“The sage brings out the rustic desert notes of tequila while giving the drink a third dimension,” says Reynolds. “BD at Earthtrine Farms has great sage right now, or go for a hike and find your own!”
