Last year, the Citizens Commission on violence in LA County jails published a scathing report on the abuse of inmates by deputies in the jails.

It said the elected Sheriff, Lee Baca, was disengaged and uninformed, and recommended that the Board of Supervisors appoint an Inspector General.

Today, the Board announced that Deputy District Attorney Max Huntsman will have that job.

He spoke to KCRW’s Warren Olney.
