laxAnother dry ice bomb has exploded at LAX, and authorities found two more of the devices that didn’t go off. The latest explosion – the second in as many days – happened around 8 p.m. last night when a dry ice bomb detonated outside the Tom Bradley Terminal. No one was injured and the blast had only a minimal effect on airport operations. Police insist the bombs aren’t associated with terrorism…The L.A. City Council today will consider a ban on so-called “McMansions” in the Beverly Grove neighborhood. Local groups have been clamoring for the zoning change, saying monster houses are changing the character of the neighborhood…Leaders of California’s community college system are considering a plan to offer four-year degrees, a move that would dramatically alter the original mission of the schools. The L.A. Times reports a 16-member panel appointed by Community College Chancellor Brice Harris is studying the idea. Approval from the state Legislature would be needed for community colleges to offer bachelor degrees…

Shortstop Hanley Ramirez was back in the lineup after missing a game with a fractured rib he suffered when he was hit by a pitch in the first game of the series…And finally, we’re learning more about a hunter who spent 19 days lost in a Northern California forest, surviving on lizards, snakes and squirrels. Gene Penaflor was camping with a friend when they separated to hunt deer. The 72-year-old fell and hit his head, losing consciousness. When he came to, he became hopelessly lost. But his son tells reporters that the Philippines native kept his wits.
