A downtown LA institution closed last night. The King Eddy Saloon was a favorite watering hole for down-and-out writers like Charles Bukowski and John Fante, and a gathering place for Skid Row residents.
King Eddy’s been purchased by a developer and will be turned into a far classier establishment, much to the chagrin of its longtime patrons. We covered the possible closure of the bar a few months back.
