What’s your favorite road trip?

KCRW has been looking for great road trips for series that will air all next week on KCRW 89.9 FM. We began by asking listeners for summer road trip suggestions on KCRW’s Facebook page. Below are some that caught our attention, but you can check them all out here. Then tune in all next week during morning edition to hear some road trips for Mars lovers, bike lovers and anyone interested in James Dean.

1) The Bay

Matt Lynch suggests you take a trip to Bolinas, a picturesque seaside spot just outside of San Francisco. He says it’s “a hidden gem.” But he does have one important warning: “make sure to get the shark report for Stinson before you get in the water!”

2) Portuguese Bend/Malaga Cove

For a closer trip to the ocean, Mónica Rife recommends a quick drive to Portuguese Bend and Malaga Cove in Palos Verdes. She says these spots along the coast “immediately makes you feel like you’re out in the middle of nowhere.”

3) Golden Poppy Fields

Looking for an inland road trip? Marty McGrath suggests a drive to California’s poppy fields. McGrath also recommends taking a pit stop in Maricopa for a meal at Tina’s Diner. “You’ll love her,” he said.

4)  Shelter Cove

Katalina Prince recommends heading up to Shelter Cove near the tip of California. From there, Prince suggests you drive 10 more miles to The Sinkyone Wilderness State Park. It’s “magical,” Prince said.

5) Sequoia

Michelle Goldbach-Johnson recommends you take “any route that ends in Sequoia,” the national park known for trees as tall as 26-story building.

We mapped these, but please add yours!
