Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen Trutanich is considered the favorite heading into next week’s primary election for LA county DA, but he could be vulnerable. Five other candidates are vying for the job, including top Deputy District Attorney Jackie Lacey and Deputy DA Danette Meyers. If no candidate can muster 50 percent of the vote, a run-off will be held in November. This is the first open race in 50 years. KCRW’s Chery Glaser talks with the L.A. Times’ Jack Leonard about the race and some of the challenges that will face the new DA. “This is a very difficult office to run, it involves high profile cases,” says Leonard.
