Warren interviews Gustavo Arellano about his latest book, “Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America,” and the Americanization of Mexican food. He also reminds us that “Americans forget that chocolate and vanilla originally came from Mexico. ” The book comes at a time when Taco Bell is celebrating 50 years. So is Taco Bell real food? Absolutely, according to Arellano. “Those of who try to deride fast food as inauthentic Mexican are missing the point…  like culture, food travels, like culture, food is going to morph into picking up some of the attributes of the new region where it’s at, so Taco bell is Mexican food, I’m just not going to go there,” he tells Warren.
