Looks like cops got a little of the holiday cheer and are laying off the DUI checkpoints tonight.  There are a few areas that are doing “roving saturation patrols” which are when officers go out specifically looking for drunk drivers.
Remember, CHP is also on Maximum Enforcement which means all available officers are on duty and on the road….total traffic

The first weekend of the Avoid 100 anti-DUI holiday
campaign throughout Los Angeles County resulted in the arrests of more
motorists for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol than last year,
authorities said today.
Between Friday at 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. Sunday, officers from 100
county law enforcement agencies made 598 arrests. During the comparable period
in 2010, 510 arrests were made.
The DUI saturation patrols and checkpoints were conducted in Los
Angeles, El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Manhattan
