It has been a few days since my last post – sorry about that. It’s the winter pledge drive at KCRW, a very busy time for everybody that works at the station.
I was talking to one the volunteers that came in to answer phones -I LOVE our volunteers- she asked me, “What is the weirdest thing you have ever reported?”
“Actually” I said, “There are 2 things I never thought I would hear myself say on the air ”
“…and taking a look at the traffic in Hollywood, there is a hazard on the northbound 101 coming down the Cahuenga Pass. Watch out for swerving vehicles. They are trying to avoid a house in the slow lane…” I believe it was a 2 bedroom house, sitting there in the right lane for at least a week. Then it was over on the right shoulder for almost a month. Oh Dorothy, watch out before someone drops a house on you! Well, I guess Hollywood is the land of Oz.

The other time?
Someone was towing a boat down the freeway. The driver not knowing that his boat had become unhinged, switched lanes. He turned his head and to his dismay he saw his boat! Add insult to injury, it was making better time then he was in that traffic. It was passing him. With the boat in the middle lane, I can’t even imagine what the other drivers thought, as they looked over, seeing this empty boat with nothing in front of it and nothing behind it. Yet, keeping pace at 60 mph as they all sailed off together, southbound on the 405 heading for Long Beach.
Got a crazy freeway story? I sure would LOVE to hear it.
