It is with an immeasurable amount of sympathy that I forward this note along to you from Kajon. She will be away from Shortcuts for just a short period of time, but I wanted to let you know why. Not only because Kajon’s words are so touching and perhaps your condolences and comments will be therapeutic in this time, but also because its nice to recognize that at the heart of every piece of content we create for KCRW, there is a community of hearts here that are so gratefully …

When my middle baby was still a baby – not yet one – we moved from the beach in Oxnard to a great house in Agoura. Breathing in the ocean air, with both of us sucking in the invisible magical energy that is released as the waves crash against the shore. She was even conceived very close to where …

Several people have asked me to re post this great story…
There is a feeling driving through the tunnel on Malibu Canyon. What is it? Lonely, I think. Sometimes it seems the tunnel is crying. Big tears, water oozing from the huge stone wall on the north side, then running – crossing lanes and finally seeping back into the mountain.
Let me back up a little.
I love the summer – for many reasons. One big reason – it is still light out after I get out of work. …

That grandeur, and the energy and vibrancy that accompanies it, is making a distinct comeback through the Bringing Back Broadway plan, a public private partnership sponsored …

The Expo Light Rail
Recently people have been asking me the difference between the Subway to the Sea and the Expo Line. Though they are both going to be traveling from downtown to the west side they are in fact two different projects.
First we’ll discuss the Expo Line also known as the Light Rail.
The Exposition Light Rail Transit Line (Expo Line) will travel along the Exposition railroad right-of-way between downtown Los Angeles and Culver City. It will share a track and two stations (7th St/Metro Center and Pico) with the Metro …
