Whether it be through his Phantasy label, DJing or production, Erol Alkan breathes pure dancefloor fire.
Now, he’s breathed twitchy acid vibes into Tame Impala’s already super trippy, breathy “Be Above It“.
It starts familiar enough but descends maddeningly into almost Broken-era Nine Inch Nails meets Surrender-era Chemical Brothers chaos, with the vocal loop swirling into whispery incantation amid a din of colliding drum loops. The track bubbles with acidic phrases and an …

Cédric Marszewski, aka Pilooski, has maintained a relatively low-profile since the 2011 release of Discodeine’s self-titled LP.
Then, out of the blue, a few hours ago VICE France premiered this brilliant animated video for a brand new Discodeine single, “Aydin.”
Featuring Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, the track features Piloo’s signature psychedelic chugger vibes with a combination of Disco strings and 80s New Wave 7″ synthline reminiscent of Thomas Dolby’s …

Yesterday, Tame Impala released a kaleidoscopic minute long clip featuring what is no doubt new music from the group. As teasers go, it is a perfectly dizzying thing, offering little to no context for any of the imagery and going from stoned silence to blasting us with a sonic loop that sounds like the noodly bridge of a new lysergic opus.
The album is called “Lonerism” and comes out on …

One of our favorite bands of 2010, Australia’s Tame Impala, recently covered Massive Attack, one of the most played bands of all time on KCRW! A match made in heaven.
Massive Attack performed a rare radio set last year for us which you can check out here.
