It’s a Triple Hitter! New Beck, Avalanches, The Head and the Heart

Written by

What a day! We’ve been gifted with three new songs from three completely different artists.

Beck – “Wow”

The name is appropriate for this pop banger that revisits his “Odelay”-era hip hop vibe, with some trap influence to boot!

It’s from his forthcoming record – due in October – which apparently was penned and recorded BEFORE his solemnly beautiful Grammy-winning album “Morning Phase”. It’s at the polar end of the musical spectrum from that release and shows Beck’s incredible range.

Avalanches – “Frankie Sinatra”

Oh Avalanches. For years – years !!! – I put them at the top of my “most anticipated records” list. I had given up hope that another album would ever come, as they pretty much disappeared after the release of their spectacular 2000 debut “Since I Left You”, an instant classic.

They shook up the music world with their sample based jams, so when I got word a new song was coming last night, I was giddy like a schoolgirl.

“Frankie Sinatra” has been stuck in my head ever since.

The Head and the Heart – “All We Ever Knew”

Jason Bentley got an early listen to some songs from this Seattle band’s forthcoming record and told me it has some Fleetwood Mac vibes. I can hear it in this single, their first release since their 2013 album “ Let’s Be Still”. They have some other exciting news on the horizon, they appear in and perform an original song in Cameron Crowe’s Roadies, airing June 26, 2016 on Showtime.

The song isn’t streaming widely yet but keep an eye here for a link: https://twitter.com/headandtheheart
