Cate Le Bon Communes with the Crabs

Written by

Welsh songstress Cate Le Bon has charmed us all here at KCRW with her distinctive indie-rock sound heard over the course of a trio of solo albums, a couple of EPs, and assorted collaborations, including last year’s record with Tim Presley of White Fence, released under the name of Drinks.  Her fourth album is on the horizon, to be called Crab Day, and she has introduced it with an official trailer, and a particularly cinematic one at that.  Directed by visual artist Phil Collins (not the “In the Air Tonight” mastermind), its charming weirdness, depicting Cate wandering around a theatre that seems to be preparing for either her own concert or some sort of oddball dance recital, feels like what it would be like if David Lynch directed a remake of Jean-Luc Godard’s One Plus One with Andy Warhols’ stable of actors.

Crab Day will be released on April 15 (Tax Day is actually Crab Day?), and she will give a sneak-peak of the album a couple of weeks prior in her adopted hometown of Los Angeles for a concert at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever on Wednesday, March 30.  Pre-orders and assorted packages can be found here.

How will you celebrate Crab Day?
