Brazilian Girls are Back! Hear “The Critic”

Meet the Michaels

When I saw that Brazilian Girls had booked a show at the Roxy Theater for January 13, I immediately emailed their manager to see if they had new music in the works.

Fans will know that their last album — the Grammy-nominated “New York City” – was released in 2008 and then things went kind of quiet.

The band’s extraordinary frontwoman Sabina Sciubba had two children, lives in Paris, and released a solo album in 2014, which all seemed to make a reunion less likely.

But the show announcement was a hint of hope. And I was thrilled to find out they had a new song to share with us –“The Critic”.

It became an immediate fave on MBE.

The band is in the studio finishing up a new album that will be released on Yebo Records AND will appear live on MBE NEXT THURSDAY to premiere more new songs. Don’t miss it.

Brazilian Girls SoCal Live Dates

January 13—Los Angeles, CA—The Roxy
January 15—San Francisco, CA—Social Hall
January 16—Santa Barbara, CA—Soho Music Club

p.s. the band’s return prompted a conversation among our music staff about our favorite Brazilian Girls songs. Mine is “Good Time”. Jason Bentley loves “Lazy Lover”. And our KCRW Presents coordinator Mary Chellamy picks “Don’t Stop”.
