Song Premiere: The Dø “Trustful Hands” (remixed by Gilligan Moss)

French/Finnish electropop duo the Dø (rhymes with “snow”) are kind of a big deal in their home country of France. All three of their albums have hit the upper reaches of the French charts, including their latest, Shake Shook Shaken, which has also won the Rock Album of the Year award at the French version of the Grammys. They have plenty of fans in the US as well, including Brooklyn-based producer Gilligan Moss, who has offered up a remix of their single, “Trustful Hands.”

Moss ups the tempo & brings out the percussive possibilities of singer Olivia Merilahti’s plaintive vocals, adding percolating keyboard burbles and washes to the dø’s already catchy tune. Like with the original, Moss’ take on “Trustful Hands” seeks to “break the laws of gravity” with a haunting melody hoovering several feet above the dancefloor, while paradoxically drawing more feet directly to the dancefloor. And THAT’S the magic of a good collaboration!
