Four Songs You Should Hear Right Now: Meg Mac, Seoul, Yukon Blonde, Mac Demarco

Meg Mac – “Roll Up Your Sleeve”

Jason Bentley has been spinning this track for a few weeks and I absolutely love it.

We were talking about it in the studio and, as he says, “it has an Adele soulfulness, but she totally owns it.”

This Melbourne-based singer is definitely one to watch and this track appears on her self-titled debut EP, out last month.

Seoul – “The Line” + “Stay With Us”

Yep, it’s a two-fer. I’m semi-obsessed with the new album from this Montreal band. It’s synthy indie pop that suits my fancy.

These tracks have a shimmery, dreamy quality and appear on their debut, “I Become a Shade”. The album is separated intro three distinct suites and is worth a listen from start to finish.

Yukon blonde – “Como”

The backing “oooohweee oooohs” vocals and a sturdy bass line make this song for me. It’s taken from “On Blonde”, the third album from Vancouver’s Yukon Blonde (due via Dine Alone on June 16).

Yes, the Canadians clearly have a special touch when it comes to indie pop.

Mac Demarco – “The Way You’d Love Her”

Mac Demarco released one of my favorite records last year and has been touring constantly ever since. I’ve caught him at a few festivals and he is ALWAYS a highlight. His lack of pretense and all around fun-loving vibe is the best.

I was so happy to hear he had a new track and even happier once I heard it. It’s a woozy romantic ditty.

Listening to it feels like being drunk on wine on a beautiful hot summer day.

Fun fact: he’s also Canadian! He’s based in Montreal.
