Coachella Preview: AC/DC Guest DJ Project Special Edition

Written by

When I heard AC/DC were headlining Coachella, I immediately thought of all the folks who have picked them for their Guest DJ Project sets in the past and immediately started putting together this tribute.

Their stories really stick with me (I produce the show), and even though I think everyone loves a great rock song, these Aussies had a major impact on some very cool folks.

Their music is a battle cry for Shaun White at competitions and, for award-winning chef Jon Shook (Animal, Trois Mec, Petit Trois, Son of a Gun), it marks the moment in his life he decided to fearlessly pursue a career in food, despite the objections of his family.

Marc Maron went to a concert to see Journey, and ended up discovering AC/DC, saying their music was ”just pure dirty to me”.

Bridesmaids” Director Paul Feig, who is working on the upcoming all-female “Ghostbusters” remake, says the “bottled anarchy” of the band totally opened up his world.

For the finale, KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley chooses his favorite track. He immediately responded with “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” when I asked…which makes me worry a little bit. (I kid)

For those about to rock, we salute you with this special tribute.
