It seems hard to believe, but it’s been nearly three years since Tame Impala’s last studio album — “Lonerism” — came out.

Not that Kevin Parker has been sitting idly by in that time; between touring (and releasing the excellent Live Versions album last year (Be Above It”  from that album is EPIC!), producing and collaborating on releases by Melody’s Echo Chamber and Discodeine (among others), forming new bands, and appearing on three tracks on Mark Ronson’s latest album, Parker has proven himself to be something of a creative dynamo.

With a new album in the pipeline for release later this year, Tame Impala came storming back this week with an epic new stomper called “Let It Happen“.

“Let It Happen” is quintessential Tame Impala over a sprawling (nearly) 8 minute runtime, and is a must add for your hard drive this week.

Nuve – ขอบคุณครับ EP

Former KCRW volunteer Jose Castillo has been releasing records as Nuve on his Sweet Tiger Records imprint for a few years now, but his latest release ขอบคุณครับ has really caught my ear.

The EP chops up field recordings from a trip to Southeast Asia and runs them through a psychedelic beat blender for a sound reminiscent of early Caribou and the recent work of Gold Panda.

สวย” has been getting a lot of spins on my show in recent weeks.

There’s an off-kilter quality and warmth to ขอบคุณครับ (and “สวย” in particular) that sucks you in and brings you closer with every listen.
