Four Songs You Should Hear Right Now: The Drums, Odesza, Robert Plant, Redinho

Written by

The Drums – “Kiss Me Again”

The Drums have consistently released great music since they first came on our radar in 2009. They’ve always had a surf-pop vibe but, on their latest single, their love for bands like Joy Division comes through.

Singer Jonny Pierce has us hooked with the infectious “Kiss Me Again”. It will be on their forthcoming album “Encyclodpedia”, out later this month.

ODESZA – Sun Models (feat. Madelyn Grant)

I won’t be surprised if Odesza’s albumIn Returnis one of my most played albums of 2014 (and most played on the station as well). It’s so solidly excellent, I really struggled over which song to share.

The production duo recruited vocalists like Zyra, Shy Girls, and Madelyn Grant for their uplifting atmospheric electro music.

Great beats. Great hooks. Great vocals. They have it all.

They perform live at the Fonda Theatre in LA on September 20.

(I finally chose this track because it’s available as a free download, but check out “Say My Name as well)

Robert Plant — Rainbow

Not that Robert Plant needs any extra promotion, but the first single off his album “Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar” has been on repeat for weeks.

Jason Bentley has been giving it steady spins on MBE, cushioning it between artists like Nick Drake and Sondre Lerche.

Rainbow” sounds familiar yet entirely new at the same time. It is, hands down, one of my favorite tracks of the year. WOW.

Redinho – “Playing With Fire”

This morning, Jason called this his favorite song of the moment so it’s definitely worth sharing!

He says singer Kimbra tipped him off to the London-based artist.

Redinho’s debut album “Numbers” has been three years in the making and is out this month.
