Motopony – “Get Down”
It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from our Seattle friends Motopony but it was totally worth the wait considering the excellence of their track “Get Down”.
If you need a little Monday motivation, this propulsive track should help.
The song is on a 5-song EP called “Idle Beauty”, released earlier this month.
Wet – “Dreams”
“Some days just aren’t good for anything at all”
I hear ya sista.
The beauty of this track is its simplicity. Great lyrics, just enough of a beat to keep it moving and fantastic vocal delivery from Kelly Zutrau. It’s an R&B-tinged electro pop song with a romantic edge.
Wet began as a long-distance collaboration between Providence, New York, and Los Angeles, which culminated their debut EP released last year. They are working on their first full length and touring behind SOHN.
p.s. This may seem obvious but don’t Google this band and song title. Of course I forgot and did it anyway…
Perfume Genius – “Fool”
I had no less than a revelatory experience listening to the new Perfume Genius album this weekend, mostly because of this song. It has this incredible swagger and just completely grabbed my attention. Then it went to a bunch of unexpected places.
It’s just a killer track, finger snaps and all. “Too Bright” is out now.
Nick Mulvey – “Fever to the Form”
UK artist Nick Mulvey got a big boost when his album “First Mind” was nominated for a Mercury Prize earlier this month.
He’s a singer-songwriter in the vein of Jose Gonzalez and Nick Drake.
Fun fact: As a teenager, he moved to Havana to studio music and art and was a part of Portico Quartet before striking out on his own.
There are a lot of strong songs on the album, but this is my favorite.
