Beaty Heart: Artist You Should Know

Written by

Many KCRW fans are gearing up to see buzz-worthy UK future-funk group Jungle at the Fonda this Friday, as well they should. But I also recommend getting there a little early, as fellow countrymen Beaty Heart make an appearance on these shores as the opening act for the show.

Fresh from the summertime festival circuit, including the acclaimed Bestival on the Isle of Wight, the trio bring their bouncy brand of tunesmithery to local ears.

Using artists such as the Beach Boys and Vampire Weekend as models, Beaty Heart infuse tropical flavors into their hook-friendly songs such as “Banana Bread” and “Seafood” (edibles seem to be a common theme in their music – they themselves describe their debut record, “Mixed Blessings“, as a “weird fruity album”).

Layered, percussive, even cacophonous at time, Beaty Heart have made an album that clearly moves to its own beat, but it is one that hungry music fans can easily latch onto. So don’t miss out!
