Described as the glue that holds the increasingly-diverse Marvel cinematic universe (i.e. Iron Man, Thor, The Avengers, Agents of SHIELD) together, Clark Gregg’s role as Agent Phil Coulson has made him a favorite among fan-boys & fan-girls everywhere (including THIS fan-boy!)

But he’s also an actor of distinction and subtlety, having appeared in such films as State and Main, (500) Days of Summer and Much Ado About Nothing, as well as on TV shows like The New Adventures of Old Christine and The West Wing.

He’s even dabbled behind the camera, as the writer and director of both the 2008 Chuck Palahniuk adaptation, Choke, and his latest film, Trust Me (available on iTunes & on demand and absolutely worth your time).

What I didn’t know before I pleadingly convinced Guest DJ Project producer Rachel Reynolds to invite him down was how much of a music nerd he was!

His song picks proved pretty diverse, ranging from funk & ska to hip-hop & art rock, and they make it clear he’s a passionate listener.

He even admitted that he had a secret playlist of tunes that helped him achieve necessary emotional states as an actor that seriously impressed his Avengers director Joss Whedon.  But Gregg was very cagey about giving up any of the songs on this powerful setlist (beyond Radiohead , which he cited during his Guest DJ session).

Spoken like a true secret agent!

Well, if I couldn’t pull that bit of classified info out of him, I at least managed an autograph on my Iron Man DVD…wait a minute!  Does this mean I’ve been made an honorary SHIELD agent?!?!
