Popcaan – “Everything Nice” Remix

Popcaan’s minimalist dancehall burner “Everything Nice” has been burrowing its way into my brain and laying eggs for the past couple weeks. When I first heard it I thought, oh, that’s a nice tune, but with every listen I’m growing more and more convinced that it might just be the my favorite single of 2014.

Popcaan‘s name is becoming increasingly familiar to American audiences with recent appearances on tracks with Major Lazer, Snoop Lion and Pusha T.

If his forthcoming “Where We Come From” album has a couple more jams on par with “Everything Nice“, I could see Popcaan taking a Sean Paul-circa 2002 sized leap into your mom knows a Popcaan song-territory this summer.

The “Everything Nice” remix is pretty similar to the remix original except it trades in a Popcaan verse for a guest spot by Mavado. It’s available as a free download by liking Mixpak Records’ facebook page.

D’Angelo — “Spanish Joint” Remixes

Hey, remember last year when Questlove said that D’Angelo’s album was 99% done and we all collectively thought — Great! That must mean it’s coming out soon!

Well, things haven’t quite panned out and we’ll have to just wait a while longer than expected for D’Angelo’s follow up to 2000’s “Voodoo“.

In the meantime, a trio of producers have released some pretty solid remixes of “Spanish Joint” in the past month (seriously, what are the odds that everyone gravitated toward the same 14-year-old track almost simultaneously? There’s definitely something in the air…), each one giving the original a little more dancefloor oomph.

I can’t pick a favorite, so here’s all three:
