KCRW is teaming up with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association for the 16th season of KCRW’s World Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, starting June 22.

The Sunday shows will feature Janelle Monae, Röyksopp & Robyn, Jimmy Cliff, Caetano Veloso. Glen Hansard, Iron & Wine, Devendra Banhart and many more!

Nominated for six Grammys® since her debut album, Janelle Monáe has become one of the most iconic women in music with her mix of R&B, soul, hip-hop, funk, and science-fiction surrealism. Youngest son of Fela, Seun Kuti leads his father’s final band, Egypt 80, with passionate lead vocals, fierce horn hooks and unbridled hard-hitting grooves. Monáe’s smooth soul label mate Roman GianArthur opens.

Reggae legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Jimmy Cliff returns to the Bowl with his soulful roots reggae and hits “Many Rivers to Cross,” “The Harder They Come” and “Wild World.” “Mr. Boombastic” Shaggy brings the party with his dancehall hits and Don Carlos opens with sweet-voiced classics.

Glen Hansard, the principal singer and songwriter behind the Oscar®- and Tony®- winning Once and the bands The Swell Season and The Frames, brings his electrifying band and raw emotion to the Hollywood Bowl in support of his upcoming solo album. Iron & Wine will make his Hollywood Bowl debut with a career-spanning set of cinematic yet intimate songs to begin the evening.

Legendary Brazilian composer, singer, guitarist and poet Caetano Veloso, who has won over 11 Grammys® plus countless other honors and awards, delights with his sunny and compelling tropicalia. Classically trained multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird draws on troubadour folk, gypsy swing and refined rock to form delicately layered melodies and exquisite pop music. Devendra Banhart returns with his mischievous and magical musical ideas. DJ Frosty (dublab) opens the show.

Nearly 30 years on, Pixies still rock, now better than ever. Having influenced such artists as Nirvana, Radiohead, and David Bowie, the ferocious Boston quartet dominates the stage with their blistering unpredictability. Gypsy punk collective Gogol Bordello and the idiosyncratic Cat Power share the bill for this one-time-only performance.

Single tickets for the 2014 Hollywood Bowl season go on sale Sunday, May 4 at 10:00 AM. Tickets can be purchased in-person at the Hollywood Bowl box office. Five hundred wristbands will be distributed, starting at 8:00 AM. The Hollywood Bowl parking lot will open at 7:00 AM. Single tickets for the 2014 Hollywood Bowl season may also be purchased online at HollywoodBowl.com, Ticketmaster.com or via phone at 323.850.2000 or 800.745.3000 starting on May 4 at 10:00AM. The box office hours are 10 AM to 6 PM through May 11. The box office is closed on Monday, May 12. Beginning May 13, summer hours are Tuesday – Sunday, 12 PM to 6 PM. Subscribers enjoy the benefits of priority seating, special discounts, purchasing tickets before the general public, and many others. Purchase five or more concerts and receive benefits (on sale March 18) which include priority seating and free tickets to a sixth concert for select performances.
