Something to Be Thankful For: The Healing Power of Music

Written by

The power of music is something I am personally thankful for.

I’m thankful for how it has impacted my life, my KCRW family and beyond.

It’s with this spirit of gratitude that I share this pre-Thanksgiving treat.

An extraordinary non-profit called the “Songs For Kids Foundation” brings musicians to children’s hospitals and special needs kids camps across the country to help enrich children’s lives with song.

This year, founder Josh Rifkind embarked on the first “Songs For Kids” national tour with another musician, Sanjay Kothari — performing in 240 children’s hospitals in 240 days, and visiting 180 cities. They traveled over 30,000 miles and the video below captures their journey.

Learn more about their amazing work here and spread the word! They’re hitting the road for round two in May 2014.
