Snoop Dogg and Dam-Funk’s 7 Days of Funk

After teasing it out for awhile via social media for quite some time, like the head of that lady popping out the ground on the cover of Maggot Brain, the first taste of Stones Throws’ bona-fide Prince of Funk DaM-FunK and the one and only Snoop Dogg has finally reared it’s head.

The collaborative project, which is being kept tightly under wraps, is called “7 Days of Funk“. It has at least one complete (and completely) funk jam in the tin, “Faden Away“.

This past Sunday night, KCRW and Street Food Cinema had a screening of the fantastic Stones Throw doc, “Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton” in Exposition Park during which one of the highlights was some brief (newly added) footage to the film of these  “…Funk” sessions.

The track is a straight up heater, no doubt, and (in my humble opinion, real talk) the best new work from Snoop since 2004’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot“.

If the rest of the project is like this…we’re looking at the dawn of the D-Funk Era…
