Song for Your Weekend: Foxygen — No Destruction

Written by

It seems to have been a bit of an up and down year for Foxygen. They blasted out of the gate with the incredible track “San Francisco”, which got a lot of love here, but by March ended up cancelling some SXSW performances due to exhaustion.

I hadn’t heard much about them since, until Jason gave “No Destruction” a few spins. The track is from their recent full length“We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic”.

It was a flashback to the mid-60’s, with Dylan’sIt’s All Over Now, Baby Blue” popping in my head as an immediate reference as the song lazily glides along.

They released a video from the track that includes footage of the band dressed as cowboys and performing on a lakeside dock, as well as various home videos.  The swirling imagery fits the psychedelic pop feel perfectly.

The band is touring quite a bit this summer, including appearances at the Forecastle Festival in Louisville, Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago and at Austin City Limits.

You can see them here on the West Coast performing as part of the Woodsist Festival in Big Sur in September.
