Rhye Celebrates “Woman” Release with a Special Mix for the Dancefloor

Rhye’s debut “Woman” has been a favorite at the station since late last year. In fact, it made it on a couple DJ top 10 lists (including my own) even though it is officially out TODAY!

KCRW DJ Mathieu Schreyer showed his support for the duo by helping them put together a companion mix to the album, which they are describing as a “a soulful mix for the lover’s dancefloor”.  The idea was to find some uptempo songs that could translate many of the emotions found on their album  (which the NY Times described perfectly as a “feverishly romantic record”) to the dancefloor.

When artists come together for no other reason than to make great art, magic can happen.

According to Innovative Leisure founder Jamie Strong, Toronto-born Mike Milosh and Danish songwriter-producer Robin Hannibal came together without much of a plan. Here’s how it happened:

“89 weeks ago, we were in the midst of working on a project that had no name & was the result of hearing one demo song. It was just Milosh & Hannibal in the studio creating something incredibly pure & special. I’m proud to say those recordings are now available for the world to hear.”

Happy release day, Rhye!
