Phosphorescent: Artist You Should Know

Written by

Music satisfies so many parts of us. I’m generally a happy go lucky gal, but even I get in an introspective, melancholic, contemplative place sometimes and, for that, music is my guide.

The most recent addition to that collection is the album “Muchacho” by Phosphorescent.

Talk about being transported. I listened to it for the first time on a cloudy, grey Saturday morning and I just wanted to live in it all day. It’s beautiful, especially “Song for Zula”.

The mastermind of Phosphorescent is Alabama native Matthew Houck, now based in Brooklyn. This is his 6th album (a previous release included a tribute to Willie Nelson).

I missed this band at SXSW this year, but I’ve heard great things about the live show. The band will be at the Troubadour on April 5. Sadly it’s sold out, but find a friend with a spare ticket if you can!
