Jessie Ware Live On KCRW: “If You’re Never Gonna Move”

Written by

I’ve been a huge fan of Jessie Ware since our DJs started spinning the Disclosure remix of her song “Running about a year ago. I’ve been anxiously awaiting her Morning Becomes Eclectic debut and, little did I know, she has a past with our signature show, performing as a back up singer for Jack Penate on her first trip to the U.S. back in 2009.

At the time, she had never even written a song on her own.  Clearly she’s come a long way, playing a live set of sexy, R&B and electro-influenced tracks this morning.

Three of our favorites – “110%” (which has now been renamed “If You’re Never Gonna Move” due to a sample dispute), “Sweet Talk” and “Running” were writing collaborations with producer Julio Bashmore. She also treated us to a cover of Bobby Caldwell’s “What You Won’t Do For Love”.  (Did you know that Common sampled him on “The Light”? I didn’t either, thanks Jessie!)

She proved herself more than worthy of all the attention she’s been getting and now we just have to sit back and wait until her album is out in April!
