Youngblood Hawke: Local Band We Love

In this City” and immediately I was hooked. Turns out, it was from a band called Iglu and Harley from right here in Los Angeles. I got to see them once at The Roxy in 2010 and, shortly after, they broke up.

I kept in touch with singer Sam Martin and guitarist Simon Katz and they mentioned a new band they were going to start soon. The band’s name, Youngblood Hawke, was inspired by author Herman Wouk.

While the new material has elements of pop, indie rock, dance and hip hop, every song was written with an anthemic and uplifting spirit.

They recruited their childhood friends Alice, Tasso and Nik, and began building a buzz by playing shows at their favorite Silverlake hotspot, The Satellite.

They quickly found themselves with an offer from Universal Republic Records. While writing new material for their freshman album, they created a sneak peak EP that contains this breakout elevating single “We Come Running”.

We started playing the song at KCRW earlier this year. And now, after touring with Passion Pit, they return for a show at The Roxy this Wednesday, November 28.

Come check them out before they’re back on tour with Keane this January!
