Song of the Week – Rhye’s The Fall

Written by

KCRW DJ Mario Cotto ruminated on the sexiness of local duo Rhye earlier this year, with a post pointing to their song “Open”. Now the band has released an EP on local imprint Innovative Leisure and I’d like to direct your attention to an excellent new song called “The Fall”.

The Fall by Rhyemusic

Rhye has been purposefully mysterious but we’re ready to shed some light on who is behind it.

It’s a collaborative side project from two KCRW favorites –  Robin Hannibal, of Danish electro-soul outfit Quadron (hear their U.S. radio debut on KCRW!) and Toronto-native Mike Milosh. Like many people I’m sure, I thought it was a female singer. But it’s Milosh, who released a few albums on another local label Plug Research, who is the vocalist for the band. He linked up with Hannibal a couple years ago when he was commissioned to remix a Quadron song. They kept recording – in Copenhagen and LA – and the result is a full length album that will be out next year.

The duo says their songs are “inspired by love and new beginnings” and they aim to “create art inspired by classic beauty and honest emotion”.

Can’t wait to hear more!
