Matthew Dear has been a KCRW favorite for many years, however this was his first time performing live in our studio. As Jason Bentley said, his music is “highly original” and there is nothing quite like it.

I’ve always heard hints of Joy Division in his track “Earthforms”, which delivers the “sickest bassline of the year” according to Jason, so it was really exciting to see Matthew doing some Ian Curtis style dance moves!  The entire set was excellent and fans of this artist are really in for a treat.
