Camilo Lara, Canyon Cody and Raul Campos in the KCRW Music Library

“Yo digo baila, tu dices dance!”

That’s what you hear sprinkled throughout live performances and DJ sets from Camilo Lara aka Mexican Institute of Sound.

The music crosses genres as well as languages, with a universal thread is that of dance music. MIS is definitely one of those artists that creates a sound that is so infectious and energized you can’t help but groove!

MIS has been touring the world with the latest release “Politico” so we had to nab him for a guest DJ set during his most recent LA appearance.  And what a pleasant surprise to hear, amongst other things, that this was his first guest DJ set on the radio…ever!

Stream his mix below and download it here.

Mexican Institute of Sound (KCRW Guest DJ Set) by Nacional Records

I was thrilled to hear that he was added to this year’s KCRW Masquerade Ball because that is a perfect environment for their live performance.  What he describes as chaos mixed with punk and dance music will absolutely lend itself to the spectacular that is Halloween and the Masquerade!

Find his world premiere radio set AND an interview in the archive for a pre-halloween treat.
