From blog contributor Laryl Garcia:

The xx recently visited Morning Becomes Eclectic with a sampling from their sophomore effort, “Coexist”.

Giving us more of the minimalist, sultry, R&B-influenced sound that fans embraced on their 2009 self-titled debut, the trio continues to delve into the personal and subtle lyric. Yet as Romy Madley Croft tells Jason Bentley, their ways of working had changed. They take inspiration from the fact that all people go through similar things — though the details may be different. Who can’t relate to the universal heartbreak of the hypnotic lines, “It felt like you really knew me/Now it feels like you see through me”?

During the three-year break between releases, band members did everything from the formative (moving out of their parents’ houses) to the collaborative (remixing the late Gil Scott-Heron’s “I’m New Here”). Check out their full session and one of Jason’s favorites from the day’s performance, “Reunion/Sunset”.

The xx will be back in Los Angeles next month playing sold out shows at The Palladium on October 12 and Hollywood Forever on October 13.
