All of our DJs receive hundreds of CDs a month to consider for airplay. In this regular feature, KCRW DJ Chuck P catalogues his musical bounty from the Post Office each week.

Hey hello! I’m back after a couple of weeks away. I moved in the rain (I’d rather be sick) then got sick (can I go back to moving?) but I’m back on my feet and back from the post office with this week’s submissions.

1) The Wedding Present -”Valentina” – I feel lucky to have another Wedding Present album. I hadn’t seen anything new since 2008 (other than a slew of live releases) so this was welcome. I had played one of the tracks I found on a SXSW sampler, but lead Weddo David Gedge was kind enough to send over the new album along with a personal note. I save stuff like this. I’m nostalgic, I guess.

2) Horse Feathers – “Cynic’s New Year” – Fourth album since 2008 from this gentle folk collective. Acoustic guitars, pianos and gorgeous male and female vocals is what I’m expecting. This is why I appreciate record labels like Kill Rock Stars. A great variety in your roster shows just how much you love music. Hey, that’s kinda like KCRW, isn’t it?

3) B-Music collection – Recent release from Jean Rollin, K.S. Chithra & a curious release from Suzanne Ciani, whose name you may not recognize, but you’ve most likely heard her work before. She’s created music from several TV ads including the old school Atari jingle, Almay, Coca-Cola and PBS. Always a very interesting and educational listen from the folks at B-Music.

4) Josephine Foster & The Victor Herrero Band “Perlas” – Picking up where she left off, the new album from Foster looks to be performed entirely in spanish. Folky and really authentic, Foster continues taking a chance and doing something very different. Her listeners must be as wise beyond their ears as Foster.

Honorable mentions this week include the latest from Xiu Xiu, M. Ward, Arctic Monkeys and an insane triple CD package of live Fela Kuti.

Every song is over 30 minutes long, so I’m not sure how much you’ll hear this one on the air at The K, but I’m sure there will be a few adventurous folks. Digital promo of the week goes to an excellent new LA band called The Anti-Job. I was mentioning on twitter how I was enjoying tracks from their new album “Bloom” on Soundcloud, and they were kind enough to notice and send over an email with download code.

Well, I gotta get back to unpacking all the music. As always feels free to pass along your CD to the address below and I’ll be back next week with a new post office haul.

Cheers,
Chuck P.

This may not be the best place to ask this, but I want to know if I can have a higher priced rental and I don’t know how to find a good, local property management firm… do you know anything about this company? They’re located in Sacramento, CA 15 minutes from my home and I can’t find reviews on them – Sacramento Property Management Consultants, 600 H St Sacramento, CA 95814 (916) 282-3103.
