Wow. Gary Clark Jr.
That was all I could say after his live session on KCRW It was everything I look for in an artist – incredible musicianship, top notch song writing, a “look” and physical presence that is undeniable and a voice that sticks with you.
It’s rare an artist creates such a strong reaction, but Gary Clark Jr is a rare artist: a relatively young blues guitar virtuoso who impressed guitar legend Eric Clapton enough that he was invited to join him on tour.
The Austinite was the talk of the SXSW music festival last year and it seems like he wins over anyone who gets a chance to see him play live. (I should mention that comparison to Jimi Hendrix are not uncommon)
Gary has only an EP available and a full length on the way.
I guarantee you’ll be hearing more from him and this session is a great place to start your Gary Clark Jr. education!
