Jason threw in a gem during Morning Becomes Eclectic today that I had to share in video form.

It’s Sonic Youth‘s cover of The Carpenters’ track “Superstar” and he nestled it between Beck’s cover of the Velvet Underground‘s “I’ll Be Your Mirror” and The Rolling Stones‘ “She’s a Rainbow“, topping off the set with MGMT’s “Song For Dan Treacy”, which was a highlight of their live session on the station in 2010.

Deejaying truly is an art form — not at most stations but definitely at KCRW –and this was a moment of true artfulness!

You can find Sonic Youth’s cover on a compilation called “If I Were a Carpenter“.

Thanks for posting this Sonic Youth video, Rachel. Awesome! That was a GREAT SET this morning! It reminds me of why I love radio. Don't forget the set started off with the great, Cate Le Bon and followed with crazy-Syd and the Floyd classic, "Bike". That song was stuck in my head the rest of the day.

I would like to thank you for the efforts you’ve put in writing this blog. I’m hoping to see the same high-grade blog posts from you later on as well. In truth, your creative writing abilities has encouraged me to get my own, personal website now ;)

Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your article seem to be running off the screen in Firefox. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know. The design and style look great though! Hope you get the problem resolved soon. Many thanks
