Cat Power: In Anticipation of…

17 February 2012 1,050 views No Comment by:

Although many Cat Power fans were crestfallen at news that she has cancelled a number of upcoming dates (including…[grimace] Coachella,) we can all take cool comfort in the promise of a new album in the late spring/early summer (…hopefully [grimace].)

Regardless, at the end of last year, she teased out a lovely new track called, “King Rides By” that featured a rather hypnotic video of champion Manny Pacquiao punching a speed bag in slow motion. The video, like several of her other indelible clips, is like Chan Marshall herself; sinewy, puzzling, and absolutely captivating.

Her video for “Cross Bones Style” is still one of my all-time favorite videos and one I revisit periodically, like a perusing an old yearbook and thinking about “that girl from Math class” you never spoke to.

So, basically…in anticipation of a forthcoming Cat Power album, allow me to share A Brief History of Cat Power, in video.
