What Do YOU Think of Henry Rollins?
Henry Rollins never keeps his opinions to himself and now it’s time to turn it around on him! He’s out of town during our winter pledge drive so we’re taking advantage of this time to lovingly “roast” our most outspoken DJ. And we want you to help!
We’ve launched a phone line – 877 789 8355 — where you can leave us a message and tell us what YOU think of Henry. Keep it clean, make it weird, but don’t pull any punches. We’ll use the best messages during our membership drive next week.
(And hopefully you’ll tune in and call in your support with dollars during that time as well.)
STAY FANATIC!
RR
p.s.: And if you missed Henry’s first show of the year before he took off on tour, it’s worth visiting in the archives. He is truly – TRULY –one of a kind.

You know in this photo he's thinking…"Please don't poop, please don't poop, pleeeeeeeease don't poop!"
Rollins is totally overrated. One of those DJs who's so proud of his eclecticism and his rare selections that he actually brags about it on his show, like his show is some radio treasure, like he's the new John Peel or something, the Great Rollins who's here to edjimicate us musical savages. Fuck that.
DJs like Anne Litt, Liza Richardson, Jason Bentley, Anthony Valadez… they know how to create a vibe. And that's what you want on a Saturday night, the night we go out, the night we dress up and hit the city. We want to feel funky on a Saturday night, not have some barking show-off music nerd chuck languorous Nina Simone next to bang-crash garage rock and then pretend it all works beautifully. It doesn't. We're not impressed. We're switching to our ipods.
Henry, listen up – you're the Saturday night buzz kill. You're the death of the party. But it's not your fault. You're just in the wrong slot. Leave primetime to the others, you're best suited to 3am on Wednesday morning, where your devoted fans, who love you more than the music you play, can podcast your show and jerk off about how very clever you are.
KCRW, I love you, but you're wrong, so wrong, about Henry Rollins.
Wow, the guy above me sounds like a total LA semen sock. "Saturday night, the night we go out, the night we dress up and hit the city. We want to feel funky on a Saturday night." What an asshole. We want to feel funky on a Saturday night? LAME! I'm a big fan of Rollins' talking shows. I don't listen to the radio for music. I don't understand why anyone does. I never listen to anything I don't want to hear right then. I'm my own DJ, I don't need anyone to play music for me, thanks. I get all my new music from word of mouth and through doing research. Rollins has a huge legacy in the punk movement. I love his work with Black Flag. The stuff from My Way up until the end is just great. Not a fan of Rollins band or any of his writing, though he pulls out some good poetry every now and then.
*My War, not My Way…sorry.
The snake's vent (where it's "poop" comes from) is by Henry's neck. I don't think he is as concerned as you are.
Did you just ask people to leave a comment about Rollins and advise we "keep it clean"? Fuck you.
Rollins rules! Even though my punk days are long gone and I mostly listen to mellow stuff now a days, still Love H.Rollins. Benn a KCRW member for over a decade and was psyched when he came on air! Great job KCRW!
Hi Mac.
It is a violation of federal law to air obscene programming. So, yeah!
There is no one like Henry. Creative, passionate, real! I never miss a show.
I think Henry is the best DJ on the air right now on any station anywhere. I wish every DJ was 1/100th as knowledgeable and adventurous (let alone the high energy and enthusiasm) as Rollins. Seriously: Funkadelic, Bud Powell and the Damned right in a row is how I want it. And speak for yourself, guy, I ABSOLUTELY want Nina Simone next to The Seeds, Trouble Funk next to Sun Ra, Miriam Makeba next to Beck because I'm not a narrow minded simpleton who wants to listen to a single genre. If I did then I'd be listening to the wrong station.
Leave your response!
