Brett Dennen by Marc D'Amour

Brett Dennen by Marc D'Amour

From KCRW DJ Liza Richardson:

Brett Dennen recorded an exclusive track for the season finale of Parenthood which airs tonight on NBC. It’s a cover of a Stephen Foster song, “Hard Times Come Again No More”. I’m the music supervisor for the show, and I thought it would be perfect for the KCRW Music Blog since we love Brett so much and he was just here at the station last week for a live set on Morning Becomes Eclectic.

Plus, his new album just came out. This cover is not on it and is not available anywhere else.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Hopefully it will be on iTunes soon, but you can hear it here for the first time! And you can watch it tonight ;)

– Liza Richardson

Editor’s Note: Liza’s has featured a lot of great artists on Parenthood – from Lykke Li to The Walkmen and Junip. People definitely notice the music, so much so that after we posted a blog about the release of the Parenthood soundtrack last October, we got a few folks commenting, trying to find out who was behind a key scene – it was Corinne Bailey Rae.

One of the most beautiful songs ever written, both in terms of the simplicity of the melody and the generosity of the lyrics. Brett Dennen's rendition is heartfelt, his voice is honest, and he does Stephen Foster proud.

I’m impressed, I have to admit. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both equally educative and engaging, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. The issue is something too few men and women are speaking intelligently about. I’m very happy that I stumbled across this in my hunt for something relating to this.

I have been surfing online more than three hours these days, yet I never found any fascinating article like yours. It is beautiful price enough for me. In my view, if all site owners and bloggers made excellent content material as you did, the web will likely be much more useful than ever before. “When there is a lack of honor in government, the morals of the whole people are poisoned.” by Herbert Clark Hoover.

With havin so much written content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement? My site has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my agreement. Do you know any solutions to help stop content from being stolen? I’d really appreciate it.

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog. An excellent read. I’ll certainly be back.

Thanks for the something totally new you have discovered in your article. One thing I’d really like to touch upon is that FSBO associations are built eventually. By releasing yourself to the owners the first saturday their FSBO is actually announced, ahead of the masses commence calling on Mon, you make a good association. By sending them equipment, educational supplies, free records, and forms, you become a great ally. Through a personal desire for them in addition to their situation, you make a solid connection that, oftentimes, pays off as soon as the owners opt with an agent they know along with trust — preferably you.
